What is Seasoning? Seasoning is simply oil baked onto the iron that prevents rust and provides a natural, easy-release finish that continues to improve with use.

Why CLARK’S Cast Iron Seasoning? CLARK’S uses highly refined coconut oil to season traditional cast iron and carbon steel cookware. There are no synthetic chemicals added at all. Unlike flaxseed, grapeseed, canola or palm oil, CLARK’S Cast Iron Oil will never go rancid and does not need to be refrigerated. It is very important to maintain the seasoning of your cast iron and seasoned steel cookware by applying a very thin layer of oil after each cleaning. This will help keep you cooking for decades.

Step 1 – CLEAN

  • Wet pan in the sink on all sides
  • Apply CLARK’S Cast Iron Soap to pan
  • Use CLARK’S Scrubber brush or other brush to scrub soap until a rich lather forms
  • Clean all sides of pan
  • Rinse pan with warm water
  • Dry pan thoroughly with towel

Step 2 – SEASON 

  • Apply a small amount of CLARK’S Cast Iron Oil directly to pan
  • Use CLARK’S Buffing pad or paper towel to coat all sides of pan
  • Wipe off any excess oil so only a very thin coat of oil remains
  • CONGRATULATIONS! That’s it, your pan is now Food-Safe and ready to use again
